Celebrating Another Milestone with Nampa School District: Adding “Author” to My Accomplishments

December 09, 20243 min read

Hello everyone!

I’m BrekLynn Pancheri, your Miss Idaho’s Teen, and I’m excited to share yet another meaningful moment in my journey toward Making the World More Inclusive, One Special Step at a Time. On September 19th, the Nampa School District featured me in a special video segment titled “Miss Idaho’s Teen adds ‘Author’ to her list of accomplishments.” This spotlight offered me a chance to highlight the impact we’re making through my nonprofit, Special Steps, and to talk about my children’s book, "Darla & Belle: Becoming Best Friends."

Reflecting on the Nampa School District Feature

In the video, we revisited how I was crowned Miss Idaho’s Teen earlier this year and how life has evolved since then. I was able to share the story of Special Steps, our free dance camp created to welcome children with special needs into an environment of joy, confidence, and community.

The Nampa School District’s segment also focused on an incredible day I spent at Owyhee Elementary School reading my book to a few classrooms. Witnessing students’ reactions, seeing their smiles, and knowing that they understood the message of kindness and inclusion reinforced why I wrote this book—and why I continue to champion inclusivity through my work.

Special Steps: Our Mission in Motion

Through Special Steps, we’re dedicated to Making the World More Inclusive, One Special Step at a Time by offering dance opportunities that embrace children of all abilities. Every session, every stretch, and every step on the dance floor is a testament to the power of acceptance and understanding.

Interested in supporting Special Steps or learning more about what we do?

Your support helps us continue providing free dance camps and encourages more young dancers to find a place where they truly belong.

“Darla & Belle: Becoming Best Friends”

My children’s book, "Darla & Belle: Becoming Best Friends," extends our message of inclusion and acceptance to even younger audiences. By introducing these values early, we nurture a generation that sees beyond differences and celebrates each other’s uniqueness.

Every purchase supports our mission, helping to fund the extras for our dance camps and furthering our collective goal of Making the World More Inclusive, One Special Step at a Time.

Looking Ahead: Miss America’s Teen

As I prepare to represent Idaho on the national stage at Miss America’s Teen, my experience sharing my story with the Nampa School District and Owyhee Elementary students adds to my confidence and purpose. These opportunities keep me grounded in the values of kindness, empathy, and inclusivity that I hope to bring to a much larger audience.

Gratitude and Continuity

I’m incredibly thankful to the Nampa School District for their warm coverage and for recognizing the importance of the work we’re doing. Moments like this affirm that our mission resonates beyond a single classroom or dance studio. It’s a reminder that together, we can inspire children to embrace one another’s differences and cultivate a truly inclusive world.

Thank you for following along and for supporting me in Making the World More Inclusive, One Special Step at a Time. Let’s keep moving forward with confidence, compassion, and a vision for a brighter future—step by step.
